We bought these 2 DVDs, Hero of the Rails and Railway Friends from amazon.com. Both dvds are in Malaysia, arrived few weeks ago, but yet to pick them up. It will be a surprise for littleman. He had been anticipated for the Hero of the Rails dvd since July. The dvd was released on September 5th, 2009 in US. (Railway Friends tu beli sbb nak cukupkan dpt free shipping.)

However, last weekend he started to watch new dvd teaser on the youtube.

Littleman: Mama, I want splish splash splosh.
Mrs. Mama: Aper tu? Tak pernah dengar pun!
Littleman: Ader la... I saw it last night (entah masa bilernyer dier tgk last night tak tau la, pdhal baru that day dier tgk youtube)

I just typed "splish splash splosh thomas" and hit the search button. Berderet video on SSS keluar. Wahhh!! mana pulak budak nie dpt? Dah tak tgk Hero of the Rails ke? Nie mesti new series from Thomas and Friends.

Semalam teringat la nak google psl SSS tu. Betul la... it's a new series, will be released on January 5th, 2010. Wahh! advanced betul anak bujang nie. Yg di-order pun belum pi amik, dah anticipate for new dvd pulak. Nasib baik next year baru nak keluar.

By the way, last sunday littleman got new hair cut. Jenuh gak nak paksa dia potong rambut. At last dier setuju juga setelah dijanjikan untuk membeli cd/dvd for him. Mrs mama plan to go to Ampang Point since there is no toy shop over there. But mr ayah suggested going to GE mall instead. And mr ayah was very much aware littleman will "pow" us more than cd/dvds since there is a Choo CHoo Train outlet in GE mall.

As expected, in less than 5 minutes inside Choo choo train, littleman already grabbed 2 sets of trains, Hiro and Patchwork Hiro (Hiro is the new character in Hero of the Rails). Nasib baik dier tak nampak the whole set of the series, set tu letak tinggi kat atas.. hehehe... oh! and dier tak jadi beli cd/dvd coz he was expecting to get the splish splash splosh dvd, which we guess won't be available in Malaysia.

Uncle! uncle! lookkk... i got a nu shu :) hehehe... bangga betul littleman dgn kasut baru dier. Actually nie 1st time littleman nak beli kasut atas kemahuan dier sendiri and pilihan dier sendiri. Try try terus pakai jln keliling kedai :D Scan price tag pun kat kaki dier je. Esok pi school littleman nak pakai kasut Ben10 ;)


So skrg dah boleh basuh kasut oshkosh dier yg beli maser nak raya 2007 dulu. Memang belasah habis2an kasut tu. Tak rugi beli mahal2 ;)

Winter 2009 - New Hampshire

It was fun fun fun!!! Great trip, great company... Trip to New Hampshire (NH) was the farthest we traveled up north. The weather was much much colder than our place in West Haven. Terpaksa la spend lebih sket for snow pants knowing we would be going up the mountains for some snow activities...

We planned the trip about 2 weeks ago. 10 people agreed to proceed with the plan (plus another 3 children). At first we planned to go to Vermont, but some suggested we go to New Hampshire for better scenery and activities.

On Friday afternoon kami bertolak ke NH (1 van, 1 4WD, and 1 car). The journey took about 4hrs ++. Along the way, putih je pemandangan. Takde tagging2, terus je janji jumpa kat Mittersill Alpine Resort, our place to stay.

We arrived at the place dkt pukul 5pm. Dah nak gelap... Our house consists of 5 bedrooms with 3 full bathrooms. Mmg sgt2 selesa utk 10 adults. Kalau setakat extra lagi 5 org pun ok. We unpacked semua brg2 and settled down a bit before we started preparing food for dinner. Dinner was nasi ayam... All are pre-packed from home, so just panas2 kan... and masak nasi lebih memandangkan semua org extra lapar dlm cuaca yg sgt2 sejuk!!!

Littleman and his fren mmg tak ingat lain dah... dok melekat je kat basement. TV diaorg punyer... byk giler VCD/DVD and toys for them to play.

Esoknyer, sedar2 org dah started preparing breakfast. We prepared chicken gyro wrap, and tuna sandwiches utk bekal ke mountains. Selain tu omelette with spinach and tomatoes , and nasi goreng for breakfast at home. No pedas2 food since we would be at the mountains for the whole day. Nanti susah nak ke toilet :D

One group went to Cannon mountain for snowboarding and skiing, while the other group (including us) went for snow tubing at Loon mountain. Littleman and mr ayah had so much fun tubing. Tapi penat jugak la dok menarik tube littleman (with him on the tube) panjat bukit snow tu. Mrs mama pun ader gak tarik naik ke atas sekali coz mr ayah dah semput hehehe... sib baik tak terberanak mrs mama dibuatnyer...

Littleman earlier buat perangai... ader ke nak cari playground kat situ! Tak dpt mengamuk!! Protes la takmo main tubing tu... Kami paksa dier main gak!!! Dah tubing sekali, naik syok!!! Again ayah!! Super fastttt!!! Fasterrr... adoila... Lepas habis littleman tubing, pi makan dulu. Mmg dah lapar sgt2 and penat sgt2...

Then mr ayah's turn for tubing. Mrs mama dok kat lounge je tunggu littleman yg mcm org nak tido tu. Habis diaorg tubing, gegas lak ke Alpine Adventures coz dah booked for snowmobile lak. Sementara org snowmobile kat White mountain, mrs mama and littleman tunggu kat kedai Alpine adventures je. Sampai tertido2 gak la kat situ. Temperature was expected to reach -23 degrees (fahrenheit bukan centigrade) at night. That was why the snowmobile session was cut short to 1hr only instead of 2 hrs. Kalau tak nanti ader yg beku atas snowmobile tu :D

By the time we reach our place, the temperature was already at 4 degrees... Semua org letih!!! Tapi takde saper berani tido, kot nanti ader yg pagi esok baru jaga ;) Lepas semua org dah relaks2, prepare dinner... roasted chicken, tomyam udang, sayur spinach, and sambal belacan. Berselera semua org makan...

That night, maser nak tido baru terperasan badan littleman panas. Demam pulak! Tak lena la kami tido mlm tu dok bangun few times tuam kepala and badan littleman, and refilled air humidifier. Sib baik gak la dlm bilik kami ader humidifier tu. Coz bilik tu sgtlah panas!!! Nak turunkan temperature, bilik org kat atas plak sgt sejuk... so guna je humidifier tu hala kat littleman. Nasib baik esok paginyer littleman sihat terus...

Sunday morning after breakfast, kemas2 barang... check out. All of us agreed to checkout the tramway in Cannon mountain. Angin sgt kuat. Terasa keras je muka kena angin sejuk tu. Kami naik Aeriel Tramway at Cannon mountain just to checkout whats up there. Most of the tram passengers were going for skiing/snowboarding. Kami je la yg naik without any ski equipments. Bersempit2 dgn diaorg. Sampai atas lagi la sejuk gilerrr... Tinggi gak tempat ni dlm 4180 feet. We just hang a while kat restaurant atas tu and wait for another tram utk turun balik. As expected, tram turun ke bawah takde org. Kami je la, 13 org dlm tu. Senang nak amik gambor, ke sana ke mari sesuka hati :D

Later all of us were on our way to Tilton outlet, except for 1 car went to Vermont. Macam tak complete plak kalau tak singgah outlet ;) We just grabbed the chance coz outlet in NH takde sales tax. Sgt berbaloi shopping kat situ. Tapi kami tak lama kat outlet tu. Mrs mama sempat shopped few stuffs for baby and a handbag for her (2 kali masuk baru beli muahahaha!!!)

Safely arrived our home at 8pm. Mr ayah demam...

Apa ada dalam kotak???

Expecting other package, but we got the other package instead. Lately we are expecting a lot of packages to arrive at our front door. Year end... sales here and there...

This package was covered with snow when we found it in front of our door. Fedex nie letak senyap2 jek, tak tekan door bell. Mrs mama thought it was her stuffs she was expecting, tapi bukan rupanyer. UPS mmg lembab sket dari Fedex! Esok kot dpt... ;)

Apa ada dlm kotak??? Few stuffs from Polo Ralph Lauren... sale tuuu... Rugi rugi kalau tak beli. Paling tak boleh blah... mrs mama beli gak few items for baby girl. Huh! gender belum tau lagi tu... confident jek! Takpe2... kalau salah gender nanti, you guys can expect clothes for sale in this blog, hehehe...

Just another sunday

Open house lagi... yayyy!!!

Before that, last Monday was the Columbus Day. It was the day, on Oct 12th 1492 when Christopher Columbus found the land of USA. And mcm dah tak boleh dipisahkan, celebration day mestilah di-associate-kan dgn sale! Hehehe... Last weekend was Columbus Day Sale, Friday to Monday! Kalau sale pergi maner murid-murid??? Pannndaiii... pergi outlettt...

Ok, we started our Sunday dgn pergi beraya ke outlet. Kali nie pergi with frens, ikut Anis... Actually mr ayah la dah plan awal2 dgn Anis. We dragged along another M'sian lady. She came to US to present her paper at Columbia Uni, NY. Alang2 she visited her alma mater, Hartford uni, and sekali la jumpa her kengkawan lama in New/West Haven. Org USJ12 tu, dkt je dgn opis mrs mama. Borak2, kuar la citer anjung merah... rindu la lauk-pauk kat anjung merahhh!!!

Later in the evening pi open house rumah liza/kush. Menu, laksa penang and nasi minyak! Sedap gilosss laksa diaorg. Org yg masak pun mmg chef, hehehe... Nie 2nd time makan laksa sejak duk kat US nie. 1st time dulu pun kat rumah diaorg gak... ader makan2 few days after raya haji 2007. Time tu feel makan laksa tak terasa sgt coz baru je sampai dr m'sia. Of coz la dok teringat laksa kuah ikan kembong kat m'sia (miss ikan kembong...). Tapi yg baru nie punyer kemaruk mmg lain! Mmg melantak la kitaorg ;)

Btw, since it's October now, means it's the month of Halloween. So, most of the houses here are decorated with Halloween theme. Mcm2 ader... rumah yg byk hantu pun ader. Littleman associates Halloween with hantu. So, dier takut kalau sebut halloween kat dier ;) Our house pun tak ketinggalan juga dlm bab2 menghias nie. Of coz la bukan kami yg buat, atuk landlord la buat semua tu... Nanti la dah dkt2 Oct 31st leh pi ronda2 amik gambar :D

Weekend Before Raya

We managed to meet up with a fellow who flew almost 11 hours from Beunos Aires for a shopping spree and iftar session.

Yes!! Eriq aka Hazriq aka Qirzah. Finally... jumpa gak mamat bueno aires nie :D



mrs mama: dulu dah pernah jumpa sekali, b4 he flew to buenos aires... tapi time tu tak kenal, malu2 kucing lagik! hikss!!!

We agreed to meet up at Woodbury outlets since Eriq was already in his kampung, NYC and we drove there from our house in West Haven. It was nearly 11am when we arrived there and Eriq without wasting his precious time, went shopping nonstop, while mr ayah and mrs mama took turns watch over littleman at the playground.

Surprisingly, we didn't spend much at Woodbury... pdhal few days b4 dah tak sabar2 nak pi sana. We only bought littleman toys and his Wall-E tshirt and short (dah berhari dok mintak, nie sure tgk ada kawan2 pakai kat sekolah).

Sorry Eriq, kalau boleh mmg nak biar u shop until the outlets close ;) but since kiter nak buka puasa kan... kena la gerak gak balik ke NYC. We gerak balik ke NYC at about 5pm. Sampai NYC at 6pm, amik subway from Grand Central to Times Square.



We had our iftar at Bubba Gump. Takde pics at Bubba coz all gone the minute they came. Eriq, our tepung pelita that day mmg tak sesedap the 1st one. Kalau u nak try buat, jgn guna tepung beras, guna tepung pulut (the 1st time tu terbeli tepung pulut, but i think guna tepung pulut lagi sedap lah!!).

Lepas dah kenyang terpaksa gak la singgah ke Toys r us coz Eriq purposely pi tunjuk kat littleman toys r us depan bubba tu. Punyer la mr ayah and mrs mama dok cover2 taknak bg littleman nampak kedai mainan tu! Sambil dok makan2 tu baper kali dier mintak! Tu yg kena pi gak...

Later we met vogue's labu lurve and his gang at his suite's lobby. Vogue, don't worry... dah talk2 with ur labu lurve and we will have our woodbury and DC sessions when u are in NYC. Sempat dak nak sambut new year in NYC?? ;) We left Eriq with his heavy shopping bags (he shopped a lot!!!)

Btw, ader satu incident kelakar happened while we were on our way back to NYC. We stopped over utk isi minyak kat one of the rest area. Masa nak isi tu, mr ayah mcm biasa la nak carik button/lever utk bukak tempat isi minyak. Jenuh la mencari, tapi tak jumpa! Mrs mama carik, Eriq pun carik. Tak jumpa2 gak. Siap tanya dgn org kalau2 diaorg tau. Maklum la keter sewa... tak reti! wakakaka!!! At last Eriq gak yg jumpa, rupanyer just pull the cover je!! Takde button/lever for that. Amik! gelak sakan la kitaorg dgn kedummy-an kitaorg and ingatkan canggih sgt la keter Dodge tu!!! Will sure remember this sampai biler2... hehehe...

On Sunday... We continued our shopping spree at the nearest outlet in Westbrook. Aterr! dah tak shopping on saturday kan... kater dpt bonus! Kena la shopping gaks ;) So Eriq, let the picture below describes all :P

The day we went out...

We went out to the mall. Reason, coz mrs mama dah boring sgt duk kat rumah. Off we went to the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall by bus. Plan asal nak sewa kereta for the weekend, tapi skrg nie takde weekend rate... terus tak jadi. Walau bagaimanapun, pergi tetap pergi... naik bas pun, naik bas la... hehehe...

Shopping Spree...

Bangun pagi berkobar2 nak tau result pilihanraya umum 2008. both of us tak dapat mengundi tahun nie coz tak sempat nak register utk undi pos. so P98 and N18 kekurangan 2 undi.

Malaysian PM suffers election shock, reported by CNN. Frankly, both us quite disappointed with the results, tapi bak kata Pak Lah, "ini pendirian rakyat untuk menunjukkan pilihan mereka untuk tidak mahu memberikan kami majoriti dua pertiga". skrg terserah la kpd rakyat utk melihat impact atas keputusan yg telah dibuat. Since the results were pretty much expected, we decided not to wait for the official announcement.
After having our brunch, we went to Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets. Many designers and brands can be found here, and tengah sale pulak tu! Dpt la few harta karun from Coach, Gap, Nike, and Skechers. my x-colleague, fikri mesti suka this place coz ader kedai favorite, Polo Ralph Lauren. Sure borong sakan kalau dier jumpa kedai nie... hehehe...
Later we continue our journey to Westbrook Tanger Outlets. sini pun byk pilihan, tapi cuma harith je dpt habuan from here. bought him few toys from KB Toy and books from Reader's Digest. we definitely will visit these 2 outlets again and again... especially before balik M'sia nanti :D

Shop for Food

Earlier when we arrived in this small town of West Haven, among the questions that came across was "Senang ke nak carik halal food kat sini?". We did do some research before we came here. Looking for halal restaurants and groceries shops that sell halal product. We came across a few, and were having a thought that this is good enough. At least we can rest assured that we don't have to be vegetarian or belasah seafood je for the whole duration we are here. Since one of us doesn't consume fish. Alhamdulillah...

So far we are doing well here. We've been asked by families and friends back home questions like "Apa korang makan kat sana?" "Senang ke cari barang halal kat sana?" "Korang masak apa kat sana?". With this entry we wish to answer all those questions. Hehehe... Our house is really strategic. We have Shoprite, 7-11, Dunkin Donnuts and McDonalds just within walking distance. The house even located exactly nearby the Uni side entrance and the bus line.

Back to the main story. We used to shop for our groceries mainly at Shoprite since it offers 5% off for the Uni students just by showing your Uni ID. Shoprite offers most of the basic necessity that we require there. We even came accross Milo there too. However, we opt for chocolate drink which is blast! Shoprite also sells halal meats and chicken too. We were told that, due to increasing demands of the halal meats, they only start selling them just recently. How fortunate we were. Meaning that, before this Shoprite tak jual halal meats. Kira around the time we moved in dekat area sini baru la Shoprite start jual. So far we got all our basic needs here. Dari foods sampai la toiletaries. One thing about that stuff here is that, they are kinda cheap (provided you are converting it to RM), and the portion is BIG. To us its worth every dime spent (sorry dah ikut style American sikit). Since the place is sooo near to our house, we just can go there anytime. We try to avoid to shop during weekends since there'll be a lot of people doing their weekly groceries shopping. Normally we'll do our shopping during Harith school days. The duration of 3 hours tu, we do our groceries shopping.

Apart from Shoprite, we do have another place where we shop for foods. A groceries store owns by a Malaysian. Its called Ad-Din Halal Store (I think so). Not really sure the name actually since we always refer it as Kedai Abang Din or Kedai Pak Din. Very helpful guy, who have been around here since "Rahsia" (as what was said by him). Here we'll be able to find a lot of familiar brands and products. Guess what, they sell belacan here also. So we'll never missed sambal belacan then. Frozen halal foods, kicap Cap Kipas Udang, Sos Cili Maggi and lots more. Normally we'll shop for frozen foods such as instant karipap, samosa or roti canai. We get our spices here too. Kiub Ayam / Daging Maggi, curry powder and even Sup Bunjut Adabi. You name it, they have it. If we are in the mood of fresh meat, they sell it here to. They sell it by the pounds. However, one setback about this shop is, its kinda far from our house. Its around 2 km. I know that 2km is not that far, but how about walking 2km in a cold weather? What a thrill to buy some belacan. Anyhow, its worth the walking and time spent.

We do go Walmart once in a while to get some stuff that can't be found in these two places, or when we are looking for other than groceries stuff. But let it be another entry.

I guess thats pretty much about it for groceries shopping here. Well families and friends back home, don't worry we are all fine here. We get to really nice homemade dishes here. However, normally the big question of the day is "Nak masak / makan apa hari ni?" Since we cook everyday, we kinda ran out of ideas. Kat Malaysia pun tak masak hari-hari. Tu yang habis idea tu.
